OUR AESTHETIC PHILOSOPHY

Audrey Patricia Poplar is an accomplished artist and interior designer. Her approach to design combines a sophisticated application to material selection and use, color theory, and furnishings with complex construction and build components of spaces.  

Ms. Poplar works at Hot Haute Hot, in Pittsburgh, PA USA, a premiere luxury furnishings store that caters and designs for some of the most important commercial and residential spaces in America. As a meticulous buyer of fine goods, Ms. Poplar evaluates and analyzes each ware for how it will be applied and used and in the context of how it will be placed in a space. She has been to some of the most exclusive furniture markets around the United States, with connections and relationships with some of the finest crafts makers, furniture designers, and builders. She takes an intimate approach to her work, evaluating and understanding a person’s true self and the way they use a space, knowing personal details about clients help her shape a beautiful world around them. 

Ms. Poplar grew up among the trees, in a small town in Ohio. There she saw shapes and colors within the wooded landscapes that surrounded her which inspires her still today. Her upbringing translates to the fine work she does today. She gets her hands dirty – not afraid of the process and production of interiors which she does masterfully. Her Art Institute of Pittsburgh degree allows her to apply an artistic approach to space planning, material use, and color. Her unrelenting passion for design and her innate ability to make all things beautiful helps radically change the way people function in spaces in magical ways. 

She works under the brand Penelope, a lifestyle experience collaborative. She creates exclusive custom environmentally friendly products where she collaborates with crafts people to sell on the market. She finds furniture, clothing and product reuse sourcing practice for clients. As a great chef, she loves to cook and entertain, using design for social interaction, food, and space design for good. Since 2017, Ms. Poplar has run Poplar Interiors that reinvents residential, commercial, industrial, and public spaces to reimagine the way humans interact, live and commune with unnatural structures using ephemera, repurposed goods, and organic materials in the natural world.
